Matt Duncan [ resume ] [ website ]
Matt Duncan is noted for bringing a fresh approach to each of his projects. He comes to the film industry with a fine arts background in painting. An apprenticeship with a sculptor in Munich at the start of his ten year art career led to collaborative and solo exhibitions of his work in Prague, London and Zurich as well as numerous shows in New York City. He continues to exhibit locally and abroad.
In 1997 he joined Local 52 IATSE as a Property Master completing several feature films at the outset. In 1999 he shifted his focus to commercial work. The progression from propping to art direction and production design is a natural one given his fine art aesthetic. He is a visualist with a deeply engrained knowledge of color and form. From his prop role the ability to construct and rig set elements gives insight essential to forming an overall design that is viable. He also carries with him an attention to detail honed in maintaining continuity on the set.
A natural leader, he is able to guide a team toward a goal with a sense of camaraderie. His seasoned organizational abilities are key in coordinating the network required to complete projects within a budget. Matt's contemporary awareness allows him to incorporate relevant trends in his work creating fresh ideas.
